BANDIRMA BİLİM VE SANAT MERKEZİ

Dear project members.
We came to the end of our project, which we started on 29.08.2019.
We have accomplished a very nice project with you.
By combining astronomy science with stem philosophy, we created an interdisciplinary learning environment for our students.
Workshops started with stem questions, activities we designed for materials, webinars with famous astronomers, and joint product studies with international mixed country teams have been successful.
The project schools worked on real and future world problems through collaborative work.
We had a good learning period together.
We would like to thank all of our teachers and students for their successful work.
We are honored to work with you.
About to meet again in new projects.See you..

Famous Astronomers

Who is HYPATIA ?

Hypatia was a Hellenistic Neoplanist  philosopher,
astronomer and mathematician. She lived in
Alexanderia.
The Alexanderian School was renowned at the time for its
philosophy, and Alexandria was regarded as second only to
Athens as the philosophical capital of the Greco-Roman world.

History of Astronomy

 Definition of astronomy:
Astronomy is the study of the sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, gas, galaxies, gas dust and other non Earthly bodies and phenomena...
Historically, astronomy has focused on observations of heavenly bodies 1473-1543. Astronomer and father he heliocentric(Sun-centered) theory of the Solar System, commonly known as the Copernican system. Considered today to be the father of modern astronomy, Nicolaus Copernicus was born on Februrary 19,1473 in Torun, Poland.
The Ancient Greeks developed astronomy, which they treated as a branch of mathematics, to a highly sophisticated level. The first geometrical, three-dimensional models to explain the apparent motion of the planets were developed in the 4th century BC by Eudoxus of Cnidus anda Callippus of Cyzicus.
One of the ways astronomers have long changed the field is by collecting more light, allowing them to peer deeper into space. This has required tlescopes with greater light gathering power and subsequently, larger diameters.
So astronomy may be reaching the maimum size of telescope that can reasonably be built.

CREW DRAGON

Dragon is originally SpaceX's cargo ship. But they improved and upgraded it and now it is a spaceship which can take people to space. It has four seats for astronauts but for this mission, there are only 2 astronouts, Douglas G. Hurley and Robert L. Behnken.

Also it was planned for Crew Dragon to launch on 27th of May 2020 but due to bad weather, NASA and SpaceX postponed it. And it launched on 30th of May 2020, 3.22pm EDT. It was a big success for NASA since they haven't sent a manned space vehice for a long time.

They will dock the ship to ISS for about 30-90 days. Again, a small step for a human, a big step for humanity.

Live a life worth dying for.
